What we collect
- When you book: your name, email address, mobile number, the number of seats, any allergies or dietary needs you tell us about, and any note you add.
- When you use the contact form: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and your message.
- When you join the mailing list: your email address.
- When you use any form: your internet (IP) address, kept to stop spam and repeated abuse of the forms.
We never see or store your card details. Card payments are made on PayFast's own secure page.
Why we use it
- To hold your seat, confirm your booking, send your invoice and contact you if anything about the class changes.
- To keep you safe in the kitchen. Allergy and dietary details are health information, and we use them for nothing else.
- To remind you of your class by WhatsApp, if you gave us a mobile number. Tell us and we will stop.
- To answer your messages.
- To send the newsletter, only if you signed up for it. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your details and do not use them for advertising.
Who we share it with
- PayFast, to take card and instant EFT payments.
- WhatsApp (Meta), to deliver class reminders.
- Cloudflare, which checks that a form is being sent by a person and not a bot.
- Our website and email host, whose servers are in South Africa.
Each of them only gets what it needs for its part, and we share nothing beyond that unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Booking and invoice records are kept for five years, because tax law requires it. Contact form messages are kept while they are useful for answering you. Your mailing list address is kept until you unsubscribe.
Cookies
The site sets one cookie, which keeps the booking and contact forms secure while you fill them in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to us using it. Email nicolaas@pastrycollective.co.za and we will answer within thirty days. Records we have to keep by law, such as invoices, cannot be deleted before that time is up.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page.
The rules for bookings, cancellations and refunds are in the booking and cancellation policy.
